We all know bears and other animals hibernate but what does it mean to hibernate? Is it really just a deep sleep? Do bears poop when they're hibernating? Do they get muscle cramps? Believe it or not, black bears do not eliminate waste during hibernation and they don't get cramped muscles after their winter long siesta. Those are just a few interesting facts I learned about hibernation.
I read Sophie Kinsella's newest book this week, Shopaholic and Baby. It was just as good as her past Shopaholic books. I predict the next book in the series will be Shopaholic and House.
I was browsing the garden center at Wal-Mart and found a rack of seeds that were all for edible plants. Since I'm beyond broke these days I decided to start my plants from seed this year and to use edible plants and other plants with a purpose. I chose viola's for the front porch because it's a shady area. Viola's are supposed to be a nice salad garnish. We'll see. I'm going to have a lot of marigold's not only because they're easy to start from seed but also because they are a natural mosquito repelling plant. In the big planter bordering what used to be a garden in the back yard I'm planting zinnia's. Zinnia's attract butterfly's, make nice cut flowers and remind me of my dad. I'm also going to plant bachelor's buttons (cornflowers), chamomile, chives, parsley, basil and mint.
