I have no social life. My SIMS have more friends than I do. They go out on dates, meet new people, and have fun. I sit in my living room and watch them on my computer. If I don't give them what they need they try to get my attention. I feel like I'm the SIM god of Strangetown.
When I get bored with playing The Sims 2 I Stumble the web. That's so exciting. I can really get a feel for how insignificant my life is as I browse the endless supply of web sites in cyber space.
Don't feel like Stumbling? There's always taking care of the finances online and staring at the budget. Nothing like a good long worry over money to put life into perspective.
I have books to read, TV to watch, movies, crafts but I've planted my behind in this chair and have no motivation to do anything useful. And the worst of it? I seriously doubt that anyone ever reads this crap I write.

I've read it, and I'm a late 30-something gal who feel similar to yourself. Except I haven't had the guts to venture into Sim World. ;)
