Mostly I don't mind living in a mobile home...except on nights like tonight when the tornado warning siren goes off. Then I mind. Usually we just pile into the car with the dog and rush up to the gas stations less than a mile away, sit and wait, ready to run inside if necessary. Tonight was a bit more complicated. My mom is here and my daughter has 2 friends spending the night. The sirens went off and I hustled everyone into the car, including the dog,who had to sit at my moms feet on the passenger side. E got out the weather radio and we listened on the way to the gas stations and fast food places. I turned into McD's thinking I'd get food for everyone while we were out but when I went through the drive through we were told that McD's was closed because a tornado was spotted 3 miles away. We hadn't heard that on the weather radio. We went to a gas station next door and I parked in front. We waited and listened through all the storm and flash flood warnings for other counties. Then we found out that yes, a tornado had been spotted 3 miles away. Yikes! We got out and went inside the gas station convenience store. The woman working there told me I couldn't bring a dog in. I told her, "Idon't care. A tornado's been spotted 3 miles away and we're coming in." We stood around inside for about 10 minutes, bought some drinks, I wandered outside and we eventually came home. I don't think the tornado warning has been cancelled yet. It's still thundering and raining. The severe thunderstorm warning is in effect until 3 a.m.

Since I can't do much besides sit and wait I looked up some tornado facts & myths. A lot of people still think they need to open their windows if there's a tornado. MYTH! Don't waste your precious time with windows that will break anyway. It's not true that windows need to be opened to equalize pressure. Windows won't implode or explode, except when hit by flying debris which could easily happen while you're running around opening them. Debris in a tornado can reach speeds of over 100 MPH. Flying glass at that speed can cut through your skull and slice through your brain of embed itself in your heart. It's not worth it to open the windows.

Another MYTH is taking cover under a bridge or overpass. New evidence has shown this to be EXTREMELY dangerous. The high winds can actually pull people out from under the bridge or overpass (I saw video proof of this on a show on the weather channel). But don't stay in your car either. Get out and find a ditch, lay face down and cover your head with your arms.

The other day I saw something move out of the corner of my eye while at my computer desk. I looked and a few feet away, under the big, glass door was this HUGE hairy spider! I shrieked something HORRIBLY blasphemous, bolted out of my chair and hid behind it. Then I apologized several times to the big guy upstairs for what I said. I stared at that spider for a good minute trying to think of how to kill it without going into cardiac arrest. I looked around and saw one my daughter's crutches and grabbed it (she's not using them anymore). I figured I'd squish the spider with the foot of the crutch. The spider was at least as big around as a silver dollar and it had a FACE! I crept as close as I dared, which was about 4 feet away, aimed and stabbed at it with the crutch and MISSED!!!! The spider scurried behind a metal plate across the doorway. The metal plate has gaps on each side at the ends of the door so I grabbed a roll of duct tape and sealed both ends. I figure the hairy beast is still there, wondering what happened and trying to escape. I looked online and found out it was a wolf spider. Yuck! *SHUDDER* What on Earth is the point of a spider that can get that big or bigger?!? As an afterthought, I was relieved I missed when it dawned on me that after killing it someone would have to scrape the carcass off the floor and we all know who would that someone is. EWEWEWEWEWEWEW!!!!!!! Nastygrossdisgustinghairything!

Found this online while searching for something. Was posted by someone I used to be friends with.

"Tonight's meditation is on lost friends, lost from each other, lost from
themselves. And the simple fact is, the way back for one is the way back
for the other. For we must never forget what we are, or whom we came from.
This is our lifeblood, our nourishment. Without it we wither, and become
nothing. You will come back. You must come back. It is your destiny, and
destiny will not be trifled with. All's well that ends well; although it
never really does end for some of us."

I just can't listen to enough Bowie...LOL! Well, school's out for the summer, or for a few weeks for my kid who is taking summer PE. BGMS pictures that E took the last few days of school are being uploaded to my online photo album as I write this. To view the pictures click on the Photos link to the right. It should take you to the listing of all my photo albums at Club Photo. If it's not working please email me using the "Contact me" link to the right. It takes awhile to upload pictures so if you're trying to see them around the time that Blogger says I posted this then come back tomorrow.

Sequel to the Flirting Pharmacist...I dressed nice today in crop jeans, nice sandals with a bit of heel, tight black tshirt to show off some cleavage. Went to the pharmacy and there he was, alone and not too busy. Chatted, he asked me what I was doing today. Said I planned to get groceries. Said he heard about a car show later today and chatted briefly about it. I think he got a stab of guilt because after chatting about the car show and when he planned to go (while trying not to stare at my chest) he suddenly adds that he thinks he'll get "the wife" and go to the car show after work. LOL! Acomplished my goal of amusing myself at his expense for a few minutes.

Have to take a moment this morning to say that BOWIE ROCKED!!!!!!!!!! The concert was awesome! Bowie was awesome! It was amazing to see him in person and hear him and his band LIVE!

It was wonderful to see my friend K.S. and meet his Sig. other. Sharing our enthusiasm about the concert made it even more fun and special.

No pics, unfortunately. I did splurge on a program and t-shirts for myself and E. I'll take pics of that stuff and post them later and maybe I can find a pic of Bowie's name on the Murat marquee.

My Calendar

It's my calendar! I was looking for a simple way to make my calendar available to my mom, daughter and anyone else who might need to see it. It's minus details which means I'm not violating my clients privacy since all you see on my calendar is "client" for appointments with clients. I'm putting a permanent link to my calendar on the side bar.

Ok, I've been a little busy. It's the last week of school for E. Monday night was the awards ceremony, Tuesday night was the band concert, tonight has been quiet. I was going to color my hair, but I didn't get around to it. I did get a hair cut though, a little shorter than before. I like it. Last week E hurt her knee in gym class. She's still limping but it's getting better.

Tomorrow is the David Bowie concert that I've waited approx. 15 years to see. That's about how long I've been a Bowie fan and how long I've wanted to see him in concert. I never thought I'd get the chance since he usually hits the biggest cities in the US...New York especially...and other places too far away from me. I still don't believe it. Wow. Bowie. Live. In person. In the same building that I'll be in. *faints*

I can't believe it! I'm going to see DAVID BOWIE in concert this coming Thursday!!!

Whoah! Blogger has a new look. I like...

I'm going to post my own personal soap. It's all true as well as pointless, meaningless, amusing, and entertaining. I'm changing a few details to protect the not entirely innocent.

For at least a year I've been going to the same pharmacy which shall remain nameless. One of the pharmacists, I'll call him Brian, seems to enjoy flirting with me. Of course, I didn't realize this until someone pointed it out to me. Call me oblivious. On the downside, the guy is married. Just my luck.

I think it all started with my inability to keep my mouth quiet. No one believes me anymore when I tell them I'm shy. I suppose blurting out whatever stupid, silly thought enters my mind has something to do with the perception that I'm not shy.

I've always chatted with Brian when I'd get my meds and he was always friendly and talkative. One day I went to the pharmacy and there was no one there but it was open. I waited, looked around and finally started to leave. Brian emerged from around the corner and I blurted out that I thought he was hiding from me. He took me seriouly and insisted he wasn't hiding, just using the restroom (like I really needed to know that!) I told him I thought he saw me walking up to the window and ran and hid from me. Still taking me seriously he insisted that wasn't what happened and asked if I really thought he was trying to avoid me. I said, "absolutely!". He finally realized I was joking with him and grinned.

Next chapter...a friend goes with me to the pharmacy (this is months later). A pharmacy tech waits on me, or tries to. Brian practically knocked the kid over and told him he'd take of me. Ok, I'm not so oblivious that I didn't notice that. However, my friend pointed out that he was definately flirting with me. How would I know? It's been a long time...

I took my mom with me and we walked past the pharmacy window. Brian looked up and said hi with a big smile. I told my mom that was the pharmacist I was telling her about. She said she could tell it was by the way he looked at me. Then she asked if he's married. Mom's never give up, do they?

I have a nice collection of key chains on my purse. Recently I made a trip to the pharmacy to pick up some meds. Brian noticed my key chains and made a point of looking at them and asking me about them. It's hard to explain the "Weird Al" key chain that says 'GUMP' and 'GERMS' on it.

Latest trip to the pharmacy was just as entertaining. Brian took over helping me, pushing aside the pharm tech again. He took the time to explain something to me and sat down on the counter while talking to me. Hmmm...perhaps to get a better view down my cleavage I suspect, since I was wearing a rather low-cut blouse.

How do I feel about all this? Well, the attention is flattering. However, he's married and he may just be the type to flirt with all the gals. So, I have mixed feelings. I have no respect for men who cheat on their wives. I know, flirting isn't cheating but it's a step in the wrong direction of marital harmony. Still, it's fun to see what he will do next. Come back for more stories!

OMG! I got the archives to work!
As you probably have figured out, I had to give up my niteflytes.com domain name and take a new one. Either that or pay $35 to keep niteflytes.com. It wasn't worth that much!
Counting down the days until the Bowie concert!!!! WHOOOHOOO!!!!
