HAPPINESS!!! I'm going to see David Bowie LIVE at the Murat theater in Indianapolis on May 20th. I have wanted to see Bowie in concert since I first saw the movie, Labyrinth. I didn't think I'd have the chance to go, even when I found out he was touring in the U.S. But I am! I AM!! I don't care if my seats are in the balcony, off to the left and in row S. I don't care if my seats are on the main floor, off to the left in row Y. What??? Oh, there's a story here. There's always a story!
Yesterday I got an email from a friend, telling me that tickets go on sale for the Bowie concert in Indy on Saturday. What an opportunity! I couldn't pass it up. I was so excited I called my mom after work to tell her about it. For some reason she didn't seem to think it was a big deal. I found this odd since earlier this year we discussed the possibility of going to his concert in Chicago. She really wanted me to have the chance to go because she understands what it's like to see one's ultimate favorite musician in concert. Her favorite is Frank Sinatra and years ago my dad surprised her with tickets to his concert. So I was baffled by her reaction when I told her my good news. I stressed that I've never been to a Bowie concert before and this was a one time chance since he rarely tours this extensively. But then she said she wanted to go to the concert! I was SO confused! So, 10 am Saturday rolls around and I haven't ordered ticktets online from Ticketmaster in years. I SWEAR TO ALL THAT IS HOLY I told Ticketbastard I wanted 3 tickets and when the order was completed I had ordered only 2 tickets! CRAP! What am I going to do now? Order more tickets, moron. So I did, figuring I'll sell the others on eBay. Called my mom to tell her I got the tickets. David Bowie, she says? I thought you were talking about Weird Al!!!! OMG!!! She says she'd still like to go. I try to explain to her what the atmosphere, volume and intensity level of the crowd will be. I finally put on some of his music and cranked up the stereo. Now mom isn't sure she could sit through this concert. After talking about it for a bit she thinks maybe she'd enjoy it. But I got a little worried when she said his music is pretty. I'm going to show her a Bowie concert video and play some of his other stuff for her and then she'll decide.
